Letter to the editor

To the editor:

We should be terrified at the thought that Sarah Palin might become president of the United Sates. In the debate with Joe Biden, she repeatedly failed to answer the questions put to her. Whatever the issue was, she touted her energy credentials and then attacked Obama/Biden. Does being from Alaska make you an energy expert? Is everyone from Maine an expert on lobster? Yes, she courageously opposed some of the corruption related to oil and gas revenue in the Republican Party in Alaska. She is feisty and folksy. But can you imagine her leading the most powerful nation on earth through the terrible economic and military challenges we now face? Can you imagine her negotiating face to face with the Vladimir Putins of the world? Don't worry, someone might say, other people would run the government. But the ultimate power of the presidency would be in the hands of someone who can't answer basic questions about American domestic and foreign affairs.
